Many have a childhood memory of Lion-O, but there’s a bunch of things about the character, and his weapons, you might have overlooked or forgotten. His uber masculinity, saving the day and yelling epic battle cries, is still a standard to which audiences hold heroes to, to this day. Over the course of the show, the central protagonist, Lion-O, and his Sword of Omens, would become one of TV’s most recognizable cartoon heroes ever. Featuring a race of tubular sword-wielding cat-people, ThunderCats detailed the adventures of Lion-O and his friends as they battled the evil sorcerer, Mumm-Ra. One of the greatest shows of that decade, or any other if we’re being honest, was ThunderCats. It became the quintessential cartoon of the ‘80s as people would become positively obsessed with the show and ThunderCats’ hero, Lion-O. This new project will mark the first time that the franchise has been turned into a movie.The ‘80s were a magical time. That didn't prove to be true, with Reynolds extinguishing the rumors personally, but it would, in a way, bring things full circle. But it's also worth remembering rumors were suggesting that Michael Bay's thriller 6 Underground, which starred Reynolds, was secretly a ThunderCats movie. For one, it would add another huge project to his slate. The Ryan Reynolds rumor is particularly interesting for several reasons. Other names being mentioned currently in the rumor mill included Millie Bobby Brown ( Stranger Things) and Vin Diesel ( Fast & Furious), though nothing has been substantiated at this time. TMNT, DC and Thundercats action figures, vehicles and deluxe sets. It is not clear which character Reynolds would potentially play, though Lion-O seems like a safe bet. That being said, industry insider Daniel Richtman, who has proved to have an incredibly reliable track record, took to Patreon to state that the Deadpool and Detective Pikachu star is being eyed for a possible role. It should not be taken as gospel and is merely something worth discussing.
